Delivering Sustainable Water

Municipal

Education

Educational premises such as schools, colleges and universities consume significant quantities of mains potable water through outlets such as toilet flushing, showers, cleaning, irrigation and canteen operations.

Only a small proportion is used for potable use.

Government initiatives are continuing to drive forward measures to make all educational buildings as environmental as possible. KingspanWater has a long track record in supplying rainwater harvesting systems into both new-build and existing schools - as part of the Building Schools for the Future initiative, and related schemes.

Water conservation is part of the National Curriculum. To support teachers and children’s learning, an Educational Monitoring Unit is available - Every litre of rainwater and mains water that is used is counted and recorded on an easy to understand electronic display.

KingspanWater also provides an innovative web-based monitoring system so that the school can check on how much rainwater and mains water is used in a building – fully compatible with teacher’s interactive whiteboards and computers used within the classroom.
